Printable Coloring Pages are perfect for handling multiple children as that can be really challenging at times. Being the mother of three girls is one of the most challenging tasks I have had to face. Sway 4, Suhri 5 and Iman 7 years old, with so many differences in their personality, the challenges come in different folds.
My kids are 18 months apart which means I had two kids in diapers at one point. As a mom, you should know exactly what I mean when I say I was overwhelmed, frustrated and cried a few times. It was hard and hubby and I was clueless about what we were doing. There were days that we just literally blinked an each other just to acknowledge each others presence. Our relationship suffered and we were cranky and miserable. We hand find ways to rekindle the romance in our relationship which was also hard on its own. I have a guide for that you can grab that here.
Meal Time with a Toddler and a Baby
This will depend on your Baby and toddler. If you have a helpful toddler you can make it a sport for him/her to help to feed your baby, get the baby down then you and your toddler can have some mommy and me time. Suhri started to look forward to meal times and calmed down a lot because of that. One other trick I did was have meals on the ground with my kids, the LOVED that. I think it makes them feel like you’re apart of the little people posse.
No screen time activity in my house is one of the best times for my kids. They love the colouring and printables work amazingly. Click To Tweet
No Screen Time Activities
How do I balance it all? With lots of patience and a keen knack for prioritizing. Getting my baby on a schedule was important, then I can structure my toddler’s games and such. What is helpful is just trying to make my toddler understand to wait her turn. That’s a whole other post. What I actively did was to find activities that would take her away from me for just a little bit. So I created printable colouring pages for her to colour and draw. Colouring works great for their fine motor skills.
The printables were passed down to Sway, the baby. As they got older I upgraded the printables harder activities. When my step-daughter came to live us, those sheets became super duper helpful to keep them from getting in each other’s way and provided structural play, team building and educational opportunity.
What Kind of Printable Coloring Pages Works
The printables that work are usually colouring, math and puzzles. At the ages that they are now, 3-7 years old, they are all about cartoon characters and kids TV shows. If allowed kids would spend the entire day on the couch or on a tablet. There is no tablet policy in my home, Mondays through to Saturdays. Tablets are used on special occasions which includes adult guests over and long car rides.
These occasions are so far apart that most times we forget to use them all together. I have bought books to read and colouring books. My kids lie on the floor and colour and draw and then they spend the rest of days outside racing, playing school or being moms to their babies, I am not super kool with the playing mommy part though.
Having NO SCREEN TIME for your kids help with socialization, creativity and health. They will more than likely find active things to get into. If not, which in my case most times I would rather them inside where they are safe I use the printables. I stock up on crayons and little to-go baggies to take with me outside the home
